After 9 years of being voted in the top 10 Best Students’ Unions in the UK and the best in Wales, Cardiff Students’ Union (CSU) celebrated a third year as one of the top 2 at the WhatUni Student Choice Awards.
The annual WhatUni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) highlight the incredible work carried out by higher education institutions, with a specific category to celebrate excellence in Students’ Unions. These are the largest annual university awards in the UK voted for exclusively by students and are based on over 39,000 student-reviews collated from campuses across the UK.
Achieving the top two position for the 3rd time emphasises CSUs place at the heart of Cardiff student life. In recent years, student engagement has maintained record levels; during 2022-23 alone, 70% of students engaged with CSU, and we saw over a third of the student body opted to join the Athletic Union and our diverse group so societies. during this time, we have supported students through the cost of living crisis, focused on wellbeing services, hosted hugely successful events like our Wednesday night club night that welcomed 105,000+ attendees throughout the year, and continued to improve our building to allow our students to get the most out of our spaces.

A community that has been shaped by amazing and hardworking individuals, from staff members to student volunteers, every contribution has made us who we are today.”
Daniel Palmer, Chief Executive, is pleased with this recognition of the great work CSU does:
“We work tirelessly to improve the student experience and increase satisfaction so it’s amazing to see satisfaction rising to 92% whilst remaining 2nd in the UK for the 3rd year running. We are on track to achieve record levels of student engagement this year and this news comes on the back our sell-out Varsity with Swansea last week. Despite the challenges facing students, the evidence is clear that students want diverse, in-person, co-curricular experiences and we’re thrilled that they are so highly valued by our students.”
In addition to CSU being voted in the top two, Cardiff University also placed 6th in the Student Life category.
We will continue to ensure student voices and feedback shape the work of the Students’ Union in the future as we strive to increase satisfaction and engage even more students than before.

Wedi 9 mlynedd fel un o 10 Undeb Myfyrwyr Gorau’r DU, a’r gorau yng Nghymru, mae Undeb Myfyrwyr Caerdydd (CSU) yn dathlu tair blynedd fel un o’r 2 gorau yng Ngwobrau Dewis Myfyrwyr WhatUni.
Mae’r Gwobrau Dewis Myfyrwyr WhatUni (WUSCAs) blynyddol yn tynnu sylw at waith anhygoel sefydliadau addysg uwch, gyda chategori arbennig er mwyn dathlu rhagoriaeth Undebau Myfyrwyr. Rhain yw gwobrau prifysgol blynyddol mwyaf y DU sydd â myfyrwyr yn unig yn pleidleisio, ac maent yn seiliedig ar adborth gan dros 39,000 o fyfyrwyr, o brifysgolion ar draws y DU.
Mae cyrraedd y ddau uchaf am y 3ydd flwyddyn yn olynol yn tanlinellu rôl UMC wrth galon bywydau myfyrwyr yng Nghaerdydd. Mewn blynyddoedd diweddar rydym wedi cynnal lefelau uchel iawn o ymgysylltiad gyda’n myfyrwyr; yn ystod 2022-23 yn unig fe wnaeth 70% o fyfyrwyr ymgysylltu â UMC, ac fe wnaeth dros drydydd o’n myfyrwyr dewis ymuno â’r Undeb Athletau a’n cymdeithasau amrywiol. Yn ystod y cyfnod yma gwnaethom hefyd gefnogi myfyrwyr trwy argyfwng costau byw, ffocysu ar wasanaethau lles, cynnal digwyddiadau megis ein noson clwb nos Fercher a groesawodd dros 105,000 o bobl ar draws y flwyddyn, a pharhau i wella ein hadeilad er mwyn galluogi ein myfyrwyr i wneud y mwyaf o’r ardal.
Mae Angie Flores Acuña, Llywydd Undeb y Myfyrwyr, yn blês iawn gyda chynnydd UMC:
“Allwn i ddim bod yn fwy balch o bopeth rydym wedi’u cyflawni dros y flwyddyn ddiwethaf. Mae bod ar y rhestr fer ar gyfer gwobr Undeb y Myfyrwyr yn adlewyrchiad clir o’n cymuned glos. Cymuned wedi’i llunio gan unigolion anhygoel a gweithgar, o aelodau staff i fyfyrwyr sy’n gwirfoddoli, mae pob cyfraniad wedi ein helpu i dyfu i’r sefydliad gwelwch heddiw.”

“Rydym yn gweithio’n ddiflino i wella profiadau myfyrwyr a chynyddu bodlonrwydd, felly mae’n anhygoel gweld boddhad yn codi i 92% tra ein bod yn parhau i fod 2il yn y DU am y 3ydd flwyddyn yn olynol. Mae disgwyl i ni gyrraedd ein lefelau uchaf erioed o ymgysylltiad myfyrwyr eleni, ac mae’r newyddion yma’n dod wedi ein Varsity llwyddiannus gydag Abertawe wythnos diwethaf. Er yr heriau sy’n wynebu myfyrwyr, mae tystiolaeth glir eu bod eisiau profiadau amrywiol, allgyrsiol, mewn person, ac rydym ar ben ein digon eu bod yn gwerthfawrogi ein sefydliad cymaint.
Yn ogystal â UMC yn dod yn 2il, fe ddaeth Prifysgol Caerdydd yn 6ed yng nghategori Bywyd y Myfyrwyr.
Byddwn yn parhau i sicrhau fod lleisiau ac adborth myfyrwyr yn llunio gwaith Undeb y Myfyrwyr yn y dyfodol, wrth i ni weithio i gynyddu bodlonrwydd ac ymgysylltiad hyd yn oed yn fwy.
