Hey guys! Welcome to the James Kimberley Chess society - the official chess society of Cardiff University, named after and in loving memory of James Kimberley. The aim of this society is to have fun through the medium of chess. We have several different ways of achieving this - from weekly casual events to serious League play. Every Wednesday is our casual event. Members have a few drinks and have plenty of games with each other with no competition or pressure. Sprinkled in between is a mix of casual and competitive tournaments and members are free to partake in as many as they so wish. Membership is not exclusive to avid chess players and we encourage those who have never even played chess to join! We have a discord server with several features including weekly updates to chess channels on YouTube, videos on how to improve your chess, tips on where to start, and plenty of members to play.
