Resolves:

1. Cardiff Students’ Union Elected Officers will hold Cardiff University to account and challenge the proposed cuts to staff, programmes, and schools. They should insist the university fully explore alternative solutions before making decisions which will weaken academic excellence and the student experience.

2. Cardiff Students’ Union Elected Officers will demand clear assurances that current students will not suffer as a result of these proposals. This includes clarity on course closures, school mergers, module availability, and student support services. 

3. Cardiff Students’ Union Elected Officers will gather student questions, concerns, and feedback to ensure their voices are heard and represented at every level and every stage.

4. Cardiff Students’ Union Elected Officers will work alongside trade unions, affected schools, and key stakeholders to fight for alternative solutions; recognising the indispensable role of academic and professional service staff in student success.

5. In periods of industrial action, Cardiff Students’ Union Elected Officers will stand in solidarity with UCU (University College Union) to show recognition of the value university staff have in shaping students experiences and futures. This includes, but is not limited to, supporting staff at picket lines and expressing support.

6. Cardiff Students’ Union Elected Officers will continue to advocate for postgraduate research students ability to teach and will fight against any reduction in PGR teaching roles, recognising the importance of these roles in learning and development opportunities.

1. Bydd Swyddogion Etholedig Undeb Myfyrwyr Caerdydd yn dwyn Prifysgol Caerdydd i gyfrif ac yn herio’r toriadau arfaethedig i'r nifer o staff, rhaglenni ac ysgolion. Dylent fynnu bod y Brifysgol yn ystyried pob datrysiad amgen yn llawn cyn gwneud penderfyniadau a fydd yn gwanhau rhagoriaeth academaidd a phrofiadau myfyrwyr.  

2. Bydd Swyddogion Etholedig Undeb Myfyrwyr Caerdydd yn mynnu sicrwydd clir na fydd myfyrwyr yn dioddef o ganlyniad i'r cynigion hyn. Mae hyn yn cynnwys eglurder ynghylch cau cyrsiau, cyfuno ysgolion, argaeledd modiwlau, a gwasanaethau cymorth i fyfyrwyr.   

3. Bydd Swyddogion Etholedig Undeb Myfyrwyr Caerdydd yn casglu cwestiynau, pryderon, ac adborth myfyrwyr er mwyn sicrhau bod eu lleisiau’n cael eu clywed a’u cynrychioli ar bob lefel a cham.  

4. Bydd Swyddogion Etholedig Undeb Myfyrwyr Caerdydd yn cydweithio gydag undebau llafur, ysgolion yr effeithir arno, a rhanddeiliaid allweddol i frwydro am ddatrysiadau amgen, gan gydnabod rôl angenrheidiol staff academaidd a gwasanaethau proffesiynol ar gyfer llwyddiant myfyrwyr.   

5. Mewn cyfnodau o weithredu diwydiannol, bydd Swyddogion Etholedig Undeb Myfyrwyr Caerdydd yn sefyll mewn undod ag UCU (Undeb Prifysgolion a Cholegau) er mwyn cydnabod gwerth staff prifysgol wrth lunio profiadau a dyfodol myfyrwyr. Mae hyn yn cynnwys, ond heb fod yn gyfyngedig i, gefnogi staff ar linellau piced a mynegi cefnogaeth.

6. Bydd Swyddogion Etholedig Undeb Myfyrwyr Caerdydd yn parhau i eirioli dros allu myfyrwyr ymchwil ôl-raddedig i addysgu a byddant yn brwydro yn erbyn unrhyw ostyngiad i rolau addysgu YÔR, gan gydnabod pwysigrwydd y rolau hyn i gyfleoedd dysgu a datblygu.

1. Cardiff University has officially announced proposals regarding the “Academic Future” of the institution, citing serious financial challenges and the need for significant changes to protect its future. (1)

2. These proposals include cuts equivalent to 400 full-time academic staff, the closure of several schools and programs, and the merger of others. The distress and uncertainty these proposals have caused students is unacceptable.

Believes:

1. This is a critical moment for our University. The Students’ Union should fight to protect student interests and ensure that every option is considered before the University makes cuts that could damage education and student experiences for years to come. 

2. Students deserve clear, transparent communication about how any proposed changes will impact their education and university experience. Uncertainty around courses, programs, and support services is unsettling for current students.

3. The university should prioritise maintaining a robust and diverse range of academic options and student services. Course closures or mergers must not undermine the educational opportunities available to students.

4. We must ensure that any decisions made are made with the wellbeing and success of students at their core, not just financial concerns.

5. Academic and professional service staff are central to students success and outcomes.

6. Working in solidarity with staff and unions ensures a unified front that will be more effective in negotiating alternatives to the proposed cuts.

7. Graduate Tutors and Demonstrators play a critical role in delivering high-quality teaching while also advancing their own academic careers. Reducing these roles would harm both students’ learning experiences and research students' professional development.

4. Rhaid i ni sicrhau fod unrhyw benderfyniadau a wneir yn cael eu gwneud gyda lles a llwyddiant myfyrwyr wrth eu gwraidd, ac nid pryderon ariannol yn unig. 

5. Mae staff academaidd a gwasanaethau proffesiynol yn ganolog i lwyddiant a chanlyniadau myfyrwyr.  

6. Mae gweithio mewn undod â staff ac undebau yn sicrhau ffrynt unedig a fydd yn fwy effeithiol wrth drafod datrysiadau amgen i'r toriadau arfaethedig.  

7. Mae Tiwtoriaid ac Arddangoswyr Graddedig yn chwarae rhan hanfodol wrth ddarparu addysg o ansawdd dda tra hefyd yn datblygu eu gyrfaoedd academaidd eu hunain. Byddai torri’r rolau hyn yn niweidio profiadau dysgu myfyrwyr a datblygiad proffesiynol myfyrwyr ymchwil.
