About My Role

Hannah represents all students on academic interests to the University and works with the Student Voice team and student academic representatives to review feedback and identify what changes students want. Hannah lobbies and negotiates with the University to implement any changes that need to be made whether it’s regarding assessment and feedback or developing study spaces.

About Me

Shwmae! I’m Hannah and excited to be your Vice President Education!

I am heading into my third year of Biomedical Sciences, where did the time go! I grew up in a small town in Devon where I studied at Ivybridge Community College and developed my passion for education and science. My sister studied pharmacy at Cardiff and from visiting I knew Cardiff was the place for me. Thankfully I made it! I have always been one to get involved and I love meeting new people, so please do say hi!

Last year I was heading back to university early and my friend wondered if I fancied volunteering for freshers with them. I had no idea what would evolve from just a couple of weeks volunteering in the Welcome Team. Over the past year I took every opportunity to continue to be part of the Students’ Union. I volunteered as part of the Student advice team in their Executive Committee where I met so many new people, became a part of Student Senate and President of Eat Well. All of my work and volunteering with the Students’ Union opened my eyes to the opportunity of being VP education and the impact it has on our student experience. I look forward to an entire year dedicated to supporting you and ensuring you are heard.

In my spare time I love to be creative through photography and film which is why I started my YouTube channel where I will be sharing my journey with you throughout this year. I also enjoy travelling and reading, I would love to hear where you have been and what you recommend!

I have always been very passionate in ensuring all students receive high standards of education. This year I will keep you updated every step of the way. What is important to you is important to me.

Please do not hesitate to come and talk to me or drop me an email anytime as it would be lovely to hear from you. Any questions or queries send them my way!

My main priorities this year are to:

  • Streamline student portals
  • Working with the University to ensure online teaching and learning standards are met.
  • Increase mental health support across the University.
  • Working with the University to improve the tutor system and the support provided.
