I'm a PhD student and a single parent of a 3 year old.
Having faced difficulties in trying to get various kinds of support from the uni, I thought wouldn't it be grand to have someone dedicated to solving those problems!
As Student Parents and Carers Officer, I will work towards:

Raising awareness of the problems faced by students with caring responsibilities and those with children.

Measuring intake of student parents and to produce statistics around student parents and carers and their learning experience.

Building resources for academic support, financial support and mental health support for student parents and carers.
