Things don’t always go to plan around exams, but don’t worry we’re here to help. 

 

Extenuating circumstances

If circumstances outside your control are impacting on your ability to study or complete assessments to your usual ability, you can let the University know by reporting Extenuating Circumstances. The University's Extenuating Circumstances policy has changed in the 22/23 Academic Year, and so it is important that you know what these changes might mean for you in any declarations you submit.

 

Very importantly, if you have extenuating circumstances, the University expects you to report them straight away, unless you have a very good reason for not doing so. Student Advice

Student Advice on the third floor of the Students' Union provides advice and information, advocacy, representation and support through a free, confidential, impartial and independent service for students at Cardiff University. They're really good with extenuating circumstances and appeals too. Drop them an email at advice@cardiff.ac.uk, call them on 02920 781 410, or pop in to see them on the third floor of the SU 9-5 Monday-Friday.

 

Cardiff University Student Support

The Student Support Centre has a range of services dedicated to helping students make the most of their time here. You can read all about them and how they can help by logging onto the intranet.

 

Cardiff University Student Health and Wellbeing Service

The University also offers a variety of support to help you in managing your wellbeing, your health and your studies. You can contact the Counselling and Wellbeing Service to seek support with your wellbeing and mental health, the Disability and Dyslexia Team if you need reasonable adjustments (or think you might), the Mental Health Advisers for practical help with managing your studies and your mental health, and many other services within the Centre for Student Life. To access these, you can use the Student Connect portal on the intranet, call 029 22 518 888, email studentconnect@cardiff.ac.uk or head to the Student Connect desk on the ground floor of the Centre for Student Life.

 

Cardiff Nightline

Cardiff Nightline is a confidential student-led service who are open throughout the night to help you with your woes and worries. Give them a call on 029 2087 0555 and they’ll be happy to listen. They are open 20:00-08:00 Wednesdays and Saturdays.

 

Samaritans

Samaritans are a great service who will help you if something is troubling you. Get in touch with them by calling 116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org.

 

Chances are your friends or course mates are feeling a little worried or stressed too, so have a chat with them too. You might even be able to help each other out with revision.

Amgylchiadau Esgusodol

Os yw amgylchiadau y tu allan i'ch rheolaeth yn effeithio ar eich gallu i astudio neu gwblhau asesiadau i'ch gallu arferol, gallwch roi gwybod i'r Brifysgol drwy roi gwybod am Amgylchiadau Esgusodol. Mae polisi Amgylchiadau Esgusodol y Brifysgol wedi newid yn y Flwyddyn Academaidd 22/23, ac felly mae'n bwysig eich bod yn gwybod beth allai'r newidiadau hyn ei olygu i chi mewn unrhyw ddatganiadau a gyflwynwch.

 

Mae’n bwysig iawn nodi, os oes gennych amgylchiadau esgusodol, mae’r Brifysgol yn disgwyl i chi roi gwybod amdanynt ar unwaith, oni bai bod gennych reswm da iawn dros beidio â gwneud hynny. Gallwch ddod o hyd i ragor o wybodaeth am Weithdrefn Amgylchiadau Esgusodol y Brifysgol, yr hyn sydd angen i chi ei wneud a'r atebion sydd ar gael trwy edrych ary dudalen hon a chysylltu â Chyngor i Fyfyrwyr
