The Jobshop offers a comprehensive temporary student recruitment agency service for local employers. Many local companies already use the Jobshop service to find additional staff during busy periods and for short-term requirements. Thousands of Cardiff University students register with us each year for term-time work to fit around their studies and for full-time vacation work, giving us access to a huge pool of temporary staff.

You can use the Jobshop as much or as little as you like. We accept both long and short term bookings (anything from a one-off, three-hour assignment) and we deal with a wide range of vacancies including bar/catering, general administration, research, promotional, warehousing/distribution and manual opportunities amongst others.

All our students are fully checked for eligibility to work in the UK. We ensure that they meet the requirements you set and that they are fully briefed on what the job entails, what is expected of them and any required dress code.

The Jobshop is jointly owned and run by Cardiff University and Cardiff University Students' Union. All the money generated by the service is invested directly back into the Students’ Union, which helps us continue to provide a wide variety of services for our students.

How much does it cost?

Our current, minimum hourly charges are as follows:

(these charges are based on current National Living Wage rate, although you can choose to pay a higher hourly rate if you wish)

TOTAL CHARGE: £14.32 per hour + VAT

These are calculated as follows:

Minimum Rate Breakdown

£11.44 (basic rate in line with the National Living Wage)

£1.38 (12.07% Working Time Directive charge)

£1.50 (Jobshop administration charge)

Total £14.32 per hour* + VAT*

*This figure includes all payroll and administration costs and is based on the current National Living Wage rate of £11.44 per hour.
