Leaving Cardiff?
It's important that you make sure your belongings are kept safe over the holiday period whilst you're away from Cardiff. Unfortunately, the festive break is a prime time for opportunist burglaries and so it's really important to take your valuable items with you, and ensure your home is safe and secure for you to return to.
- Consider buying a 'timer switch' for a few lamps/lights, to make it appear that somebody is home. You can find these easily online, for as little as £3.
- Are your doors and windows secure and lockable? If not, raise this with your landlord before going home, and make sure you have taken all valuable or sentimental belongings home with you.
- It can get very cold in Cardiff over Christmas, so you might wish to use the timer on your heating thermostat to ensure the pipes don't freeze. You could incur a large fee from your landlord/agent if the pipes freeze whilst you're away. If you're not sure how to do this, ask your landlord or agent.
- The University also has some helpful advice on protecting your belongings all year round on the intranet here, such as registering your devices and bicycle locks to keep these safe.
We wish you a very happy holiday season, and look forward to seeing you in 2024.
Er bod y Nadolig yn gyfnod cyffrous i lawer, mae'n ddealladwy y gallai fod angen ychydig mwy o gymorth arnom weithiau.

Gadael Caerdydd?
Mae'n bwysig eich bod yn sicrhau bod eich eiddo yn cael ei gadw'n ddiogel dros gyfnod y gwyliau tra byddwch i ffwrdd o Gaerdydd. Yn anffodus, mae'r seibiant Nadoligaidd yn amser cyfleus ar gyfer fyrgleriaethau ac felly mae'n bwysig iawn mynd â'ch eitemau gwerthfawr gyda chi, a sicrhau bod eich cartref yn ddiogel i chi ddychwelyd ato.
- Ystyriwch brynu 'switsh amserydd' ar gyfer rhai lampau/goleuadau, er mwyn gwneud iddo ymddangos bod rhywun gartref. Gallwch ddod o hyd i'r rhain yn hawdd ar-lein, am gyn lleied â £3.
- A yw eich drysau a'ch ffenestri yn ddiogel ac yn gallu cael eu cloi? Os na, codwch hyn gyda'ch landlord cyn mynd adref, a gwnewch yn siŵr eich bod wedi mynd â'ch holl eiddo gwerthfawr neu sentimental adref gyda chi.
- Gall fynd yn oer iawn yng Nghaerdydd dros y Nadolig, felly efallai yr hoffech ddefnyddio amserydd ar eich thermostat gwresogi i sicrhau nad yw'r pibellau yn rhewi. Gallech orfod talu eich landlord/asiant os bydd y pibellau yn rhewi tra byddwch i ffwrdd. Os nad ydych yn siŵr sut i wneud hyn, gofynnwch i'ch landlord neu asiant.
- Mae gan y Brifysgol hefyd gyngor defnyddiol ar ddiogelu eich eiddo drwy gydol y flwyddyn ar y fewnrwyd yma, megis cofrestru eich dyfeisiau a'ch cloeon beic i gadw'r rhain yn ddiogel.
Rydym yn dymuno gwyliau hapus iawn i chi, ac edrychwn ymlaen at eich gweld yn 2024.
