Cardiff University Canoe Polo Competition
What is CUCP?
CUCP is the second largest student canoe polo tournament in the UK. Held at Taff Bargoed, in the heart of South Wales every year, with the help of Aberfan Canoe Club. We host 2 leagues- Open and Ladies with over 25 teams taking part every year from Unis all across the UK. We hope to expand even further with more pitches in the future.
With two days of polo and a big party on the Saturday night, what more could you ask for?

CUCP 2024
Cardiff University Canoe Polo Tournament was a success again this year with 160 at the tournament, living up to its reputation as one of the largest student canoe polo tournaments in the country. CUCP was held at the Taf Bargoed Lakes, where the 2 available pitches were used. We had two divisions Open and Ladies with 25 teams.
The A team consisted of Matt, Will, Jake, Alex, Charlie, Sam and JoeThe Ladies A team were Tamsin, Becky, Katie, Maddie, Kate and Korrine.
All teams showed great progress throughout the weekend, with some good polo being played. Much progress was made by everyone with many rules found out the hard way with minimum cards.
Following a challenging day of polo on the Saturday, a journey back to Cardiff was made and a party in Live Lounge in the evening. Great bonds were created with teammates and other unis alike.
Sunday was a day filled with highly anticipated play off games and some bleary eyes from the Cardiff lot. A much less hungover Sunday than usual lead to some great finals and high quality polo.
Some excellent polo was played during the final rounds with some end to end games keeping the crowds engaged! Unis of London and Sheffield were crowned this year’s winners.
