Welcome to Cardiff University Darts Club
A new Athletic Union club
We are thrilled to announce that this marks our inaugural year as an official sports club at Cardiff University. The club began as a group of enthusiastic dart players, but now, with official status, we have the opportunity to grow, compete, and connect with even more players. Joining the Darts Club means being part of a friendly and social community where all skill levels are welcome, whether you’re a seasoned player or just curious about the game.
UDUK competitions
As a member of University Darts UK (UDUK), we will regularly participate in both a league and cup competition. These tournaments provide a fantastic platform for our players to compete against and travel to other university teams across the South West region. In the league, we’ll face off against a variety of teams throughout the season, and the cup competition offers a more exciting knockout format. In these competitions players will be picked on their form in order to give everyone a fair chance of playing a more competative style of darts, and to hopefully progress us as a Club to the National League Finals!
Local Pub League
In addition to our university competitions, we also participate in a local pub league in the Cardiff and Whitchurch area. Our home base for the pub league is the Royal George, and by partaking in this league we get the chance to connect with the community and engage in some friendly competition with other local pub teams. This league offers a fantastic opportunity to improve your darting skills in a more relaxed atmosphere compared to the UDUK competitions. Matches are held weekly on a monday, and players will be picked on a more rotational basis for this league.
Social Dart Sessions
We will run social dart sessions every week for all members, offering a mix of casual play and internal tournaments. Whether you’re looking to win some games or simply have some fun and socialise, there’s something for everyone! Each session guarantees our members game time on a weekly basis, ensuring you get the most out of your membership fee.
Events
A highlight of our calendar is the annual Welsh Darts Varsity against Bangor University. This competition alternates between our cities each year, where each team competes for the Mark Webster Trophy. In addition to the Varsity, we’re exploring the possibility of hosting darts nights, where we take on other university teams in a stage-style format.
Socials
As a new club this year we want to hit the ground running by offering the best social events the AU can offer. A range of themes will be organised for our socials, some may have darts involved some won't, and we aim to make wednesday night socials at the Plas one of the highlights of your week. Wether you've taken part in any darts that week or not, all memebers will be welcome to join our socials!
Membership
Our standard membership will allow you to take part in all the activities listed above, UDUK/pub league games, social darts, events, socials and to purchase any kit. By also purchasing the AU membership alongside our standard membership you will be given early access to Cardiff University Varsity tickets!
