Ice Skating Club

Cardiff University Ice Skating Club (CUISC) is all about encouraging people to try out ice skating, be it for the first time or joining as a regular skater. 

 

We welcome skaters of all abilities!

 

Training sessions take place on Wednesday afternoons from 13:30 - 14:30 at the Vindico Arena Cardiff, with three NISA qualified coaches providing Skate UK curriculum for beginners, intermediate and advanced groups.

 

There will be a chance to perform at the end of each term and practice time will be provided during the sessions.

 

We also hold socials every Wednesday to give members a chance to meet outside of the rink, make friends and have fun as a community. 

 

The club is a great way to socialise, keep fit and do something a little different whilst at university!

Give it a go!

We welcome everyone to our Give It A Go sessions. Just like our regular sessions, there is 5-10 minutes to warm up before splitting into three groups based on skill level - beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Each group is assigned one of our lovely coaches and they will teach ice skating drills for the session. No need to worry about having never skated before! Skate hire is included with the ticket price (giag's only - £3 extra for regular sessions). On the day of the Giag's, the committee members will meet at Cathays train station at midday and travel to Cogan station from which there is a short walk to the rink!


Please be mindful that we may be taking pictures and videos for our social media, if you do not wish to be in any of these please let any of the committee members know.

Elections

Team Captain By-election 2024

We're holding a by-election for a new Team Captain! All members of the Ice Skating Club can apply and you don't need to have experience (although it might be helpful). The main role of a Team Captain is to manage and choreograph performances, check tickets and help organise kit. If you have any questions, just talk to one of the committee.
