Varsity
The annual varsity match against Swansea is one of the highlights of the calendar. A full athletics match with some unusal events as well as the standard ones, we need people willing to run, jump and throw, as well as operating the megaphone!

BUCS Cross Country
It’s fair to say that BUCS cross is one of the best weekends away you'll ever take part in. With thousands of student athletes taking part there's competition for everyone, and the team scoring means that every runner matters. For more information about the race and the weekend away see the BUCS page.
Trail Runs and Fell Races
Trail and fell running is a new aspect to the athletics club and allows our club members to adventure into the scenic surrounding areas of Cardiff. Our friendly local trail runs will be an opportunity to chat and discover new routes. There are also the south Welsh hill series to compete in. Races with a view- what more could you want?!
Parkruns
Cardiff Parkrun is a free timed 5k event that takes place every Saturday, starting at Blackweir (just up the path along the river from Taly) at 9 am. There's always a few CUAC athletes looking to be in the mix, and there'll be regular brunches afterwards as well. They'll usually meet before parkrun at a location close to the start, specific details will be on WhatsApp and Facebook.
Road races
Many club members train for and compete in a variety of road races, from local 5ks to the major city marathons. Joining the club will put you in touch with other people training for the same events, and with training buddies your training is much more likely to stay on track. If you enter a race in a CUAC vest you're almost guaranteed to find some support in any big road race you enter! Be sure to check the socials for further information and don't hesitate to message us for details of upcoming road races nearby or any that CUAC members are attending.
Open meetings
There a number of “open meetings” organised throughout the year, where you can compete in seeded races against people with similar estimated finishing times to yours. These are great ways to set PBs on the track and exciting to watch! The indoor Christmas Classic takes place at NIAC in December, and from then there are regular indoor races until the outdoor season starts in April. Expect trips to tracks around the country throughout the summer for fast times.
BUCS track and field
There are also indoor and outdoor BUCS track and field competitions, which take place in Feburary and May respectively. This is a chance to represent the University in a national-class competition.
Regional and National Championships
CUAC athletes can be seen competing at the regional and national championships - follow the club on social media to see what our athletes are doing. To see what results club members have achieved recently, and the all-time records for club members, see the Results and records page.
