Athletics Club
Welcome to Cardiff University Athletics Club!
From casual social runs to national championships to socials in the SU, Cardiff University Athletics Club (CUAC) has something for you. Whether you are looking for a fun sports club, training for your next goal or want to compete at the highest level it would be great to have you along!
Training:
We organise training for every type and level of athlete. From track and field, to cross country and road racing, to jogging around Cardiff, we offer something for everyone. See our Endurance training, Field training and Sprint training pages for full details of what’s on and who to contact, and the Routes page for where to go. Our sprints, field and endurance sessions are professionally coached to provide a fun and safe environment for you to develop as an athlete. For information on use of the indoor and outdoor track at NIAC, see Facilities.
Socials:
Club nights in the SU are iconic for a reason, and we’ll be there, as well as at post-race pubs, post training pancakes, welfare events and house parties. Follow our social media for updates about what’s going on every week. After major races like BUCS, there's a great tradition of a post-event party with all universities. Each year we offer a club Tour in Easter to run a road race in Europe or an international track and field event.
Kit:
The club has a range of different items of kit on offer. Exclusive Pactimo competitions vests pair beautifully with our casual or training wear by Macron. For full details of what’s available and how to get hold of it, see the Kit page.
Competitions:
From the Parkrun to Cardiff half marathon, the Gwent cross country league to BUCS cross country, track open meetings to British Championships, we have athletes competing at all levels! There is an event to train for all year around, with the yearly highlights of Varsity and BUCS the biggest fixtures each year. For full details on what's happening and how to take part, see the Races and competitions page, and follow the club on social media for the latest updates. To see what goes on at BUCS, go to the BUCS page, and for past results and club records see Results.
Physio and sports massage:
Injuries happen when you’re training hard or as a result of accidents, and between all of us on the committee we’ve had our fair share. Fortunately, subsidised physiotherapy and sports massage sessions are available to club members, and we’ll also help you with cross-training plans which will allow you to stay fit whilst dealing with any injuries. For full information see the Physiotherapy and sports massage page about subsidised physio with ABLOC physiotherapy.
Social media:
Follow the club on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, and join the Facebook and WhatsApp groups – just speak to any of the committee to be added. Tag the club in your training pics and athletics results and you might get a shoutout, we’re super proud of what our members are doing! Our social media has grown massively over the past few years and we are so proud of the engagement we have had, we'd love to share everything our members are up to at training, competitions, and more.
Membership:
Standard membership is just £36 for the entire year, which is less than £1 a week! There is also a £14 'Tri' membership for those from other clubs who just want to represent the club in competitions.
Purchase a membership to attend the professionally coached sessions run by the club, get discounted or free entry and travel to races, subsidised physio treatment and so much more. Come along to our Give It A Go sessions to try it out before committing to purchasing a membership, or get in touch ask about coming along to some sessions to see what's going on.
