Windband
Windband Society runs a non-auditioned concert band which goes by the name 'City of Cardiff Concert Band'. We are open to everyone regardless of age (18+), standard (although we do recommend at least Grade 5) or student status - including students of other universities!
Rehearsals are held each Wednesday in Room 3C/D which is on the third floor of Cardiff University Students' Union, from 18:00 to 20:00.
We provide woodwind, brass and percussion players the opportunity to continue playing in a band whilst at university purely for the enjoyment of doing so! We perform regular concerts throughout the year, covering a wide range of musical genres from marches to musicals, to film scores, classical pieces and contemporary works too - something for all tastes!
We organise a large number of social events each year including band meals, quizzes, concert trips, fancy dress socials, to the pub (ok, this happens weekly) and even a couple of weekend away trips.
Last year we achieved Platinum tier and we are hoping to maintain that for this year!
We have so many more exciting plans for 2023/24 and are always open to new members.
