Midlands Langar Seva Society
Langar is the Sikh concept of serving free vegetarian meals to anyone of any background. Everyone sits equally and eats the same food putting equality into practice. Volunteers prepare the food and anyone is able to serve and experience the joys of selfless service (seva). Langar is traditionally served in Gurdwaras (Sikh place of worship) but Langar may also be performed outside, in order to feed the homeless and provide food to those most in need.
In August 2014, Midlands Langar Seva Society formed a Cardiff team, led by Amerpreet Singh Khalsa. The Cardiff team currently gives out Langar every Saturday at 15:00 in the city centre at the end of Queen Street, by the railway station, opposite Greggs. Let us know if you would like to help out in either the preparation or distribution of Langar - everyone from any background is welcome!
Cardiff University Sikh Society are now assisting Midlands Langar Seva Society's Cardiff team with their city centre handout, see the poster below for more details.
