The Facilities Department (soft services) insures the building is a safe and secure environment for students and visitors. Providing a high level of cleanliness throughout, with the key aim of enhancing the customer experience.
How do we do that? As a department we operate 24/7 even on Christmas day. Providing a clean and safe space for students to meet up with friends, study and socialise. Our Security team are always on hand to advise and help students day to day. Our Cleaning staff also work different shifts throughout the 24 hours insuring we have a fast turnaround after an event, while providing high standards of cleanliness.
Typical Roles
Cleaning Team Leader
Our Team Leader supports the Deputy Head of Facilities, (soft services), in supervising and organising the cleaning department in the cleaning and logistics of the building.
Night Cleaner
Providing an overnight cleaning cover to support the Venues department as and when needed. Insuring all aspects of cleaning are covered including - mopping, vacuuming, dusting, washing, wiping, buffing, window/glass cleaning.
Security Supervisor
This role ensures efficient running of the security desk and associated services, as well as supervising contract security. The Security Supervisor also monitors the CCTV and alarm systems and acts as a secondary point of information for visitors and students who visit the Welcome Centre.

In the Facilities department every day is different, so being flexible is important. We’re looking for people with good cleaning experience that have an eye for detail. Someone that has good work ethics, coming to work on time, having the ability to meet set targets and deadlines. Being a self-motivated team member is important to us, with a 'can do' attitude, and a willingness to support other team members and departments.
