Rebecca Hardy Mental Health Officer

Rebecca Hardy
Mental Health Officer
Hi, my name is Rebecca and I am your Mental Health Officer this year and I am so excited to tackle the new challenges this year might bring.
Bettering mental health has always been a priority of mine, I have spent the last 5 years reading self-help books, writing mental health journals and planning ways to better the system. I am in my final year, studying music at Cardiff University and it has been a roller-coaster for all of us. Finishing college and starting university in the height of the 2020 lockdown presented many challenges but one stood out to me the most, and that was the impact that this would have on students’ mental health.

I got stuck into the opportunities that the Students Union offered immediately, running for Student Senate elections, interviewing for SLS committees, taking on wellbeing officer roles and being a student rep and I have adored every minute.

My priorities this year are as follows:
  • Ensuring follow ups and check ins following Extenuating Circumstances Declarations.
  • Creating a support system for students in placements.
  • Getting students with disabilities the support they are entitled to by DSA.
  • Teaming up with external mental health services.
  • Offer mental health wellbeing events and weekly drop in sessions.

And finally, giving you a voice and getting your opinions on how the SU can support your mental health at university.
