This term so far has been really exciting for those students based on the Heath Park Campus. We have now officially opened the Healthcare Student Common Room – a space specifically for students to relax between lectures and prepare their own food. There has been a struggle for social space since the closure of the TDS refectory, so it’s great to have somewhere new to spread out to. Societies and groups have already started using the room for their meetings, and I hope this continues to happen. The great thing about this project was that it was brought about by students, for students; it is a result of the responses from the Heath Park Survey 2012.
Additionally the IV lounge has been a buzz of activity over the past few weeks! Sort Your Life Out Week saw different stalls each day, promoting students to think about lots of different aspects of their lives.
On Monday, the Money doctors were giving financial advice, and the ministry of change gave you the opportunity to influence you union and university. On Tuesday SVC got you involved with local volunteer projects, on Wednesday the careers service got you thinking about your future and the job hunts ahead and on Thursday we gave out loads of different health and fitness advice and even let you grab some free condoms!
Then this week has been Housing advice week, so we have been giving students all the information you could possibly need about getting your house sorted for next year, with the main message of DON’T RUSH! We have also been giving out ARC money boxes to students who give us their top tips on house hunting. We have already helped out so many students, so find us in the IV lounge and have a chat.
