Asian Society
The Asian Society (ASOC) at Cardiff University is dedicated to embracing and celebrating South Asian culture, traditions, and heritage. As one of the largest and most vibrant societies in Cardiff, ASOC offers a welcoming and homely environment for students, especially those far from home. Our mission is to create a strong community where everyone feels included and has fun through a variety of events, activities, and opportunities.
**Key Events in Our Calendar:**
-- **Inti-asian (Family Night):** --A must-attend event for freshers, Family Night is one of the most memorable experiences in ASOC. We recognize that finding the South Asian community in Cardiff can be challenging, so this night is designed to help you connect with fellow freshers. You'll be matched into a "house" with older ASOC members (your "parents"), where you can meet other freshers (the "kids") and take part in ice breaker games. Together, you'll head off to the first ASOC club night of the year, where youll be joined with the other ' houses' —a perfect way to kick off your university journey with ASOC !
-- **BRICARDI:**-- Our annual bar crawl,followed by a club night, in collaboration with Universities like Bristol, Southampton, Exeter, and more. Each year, the location rotates, with BRICARDI 2024 set to take place in Cardiff. It's a fantastic way to meet students from other Universities Asian societies.
-- **The Chandni Ball:** --One of the most anticipated events in the ASOC calendar, this annual dinner and dance is an opportunity to dress in your finest South Asian attire and dance the night away to your favorite bollywood, afrobeats, punjabi, uk music. The night includes a grand dinner, followed by a club night , making it one of the best nights of the year!!
--**Holi:**-- Celebrate the festival of colors with us! Holi is a joyous event filled with vibrant colors, music, and fun—a true celebration of South Asian culture.
--**Cobra Crawl:**-- Named after the popular Indian beer, this annual bar crawl brings together Cardiff uni societies like Malu Soc, Sri Lankan Soc, and Tamil Soc for a night of mingling and fun ending with a club night.
--**YOLO Socials:**--Did you know asoc has a Football club , netball club, Running club and Cricket club? What better way to build team spirt than attend weekly socials followed by Cardiffs most popular student night YOLO.
--**Non-Alcoholic Socials:**-- For those who prefer non-alcoholic events, we offer a variety of alternatives, such as games nights and non-alcoholic shisha socials.
